Crane/Birds Eye View/Aerial

A Crane Shot is taken from a camera attatched to a crane which gives the audience a view of the main subject in the scene from above. These Crane Shots are normally used to be able to see a great amount of area in a scene in one frame as they are taken from long distances above the ground. These type of shots tend to be used a lot at concerts or festivals to get a good view of all the people there and to see the stage from a high angle.
A Birds Eye Shot is used to get a full shot directly above the subject in the frame. They can be used to make something in the scene appear to be very small or just to give them a sign of insignificance. These shots are normally used in battle scenes to give a full view of the vast number of people also to give the audience recognition of where the subject is located.
An Aerial Shot is when a camera is attatched to a special helicopter to view large landscapes. These shots are normally used when filming around a very high mountain or building. Using an Aerial Shot also allows you to circle the subject to get a full 360 degree view of the subject.

Crash Zoom

A Crash Zoom is when a camera is usually focused on a still subject and then zooms in or out of the subject very quickly. When zooming in or out of the subject it gives a blurr to all of what is in the scene as of the fast lens movements. This type of zoom could be used to quickly to zoom in on someones facial expression or to zoom out from something which is really in the far distance which shows how far away the main subject really is.

Reverse Track

A Reverse Track Shot can also be known as a Vertigo Shot. They are a shot in a way which the camera focuses on a subject in a scene and then either Tracks away from the subject whilst zooming in to the subject or Tracks towards the subject whilst zooming out from the subject. Doing this makes the subject appear as if its staying the same size in the frame but the audience can still see that the camera is either moving towards or away from the subject in the scene. Using a Reverse Track Shot allows the audience to see more or less of the background in the scene but the subject stays almost the same size so this can be used if you want the subject to be the only focus in the scene when closing up on the subject or the background can become part of the subject when backing away from the main subject.

Whip Pan

A Whip Pan Shot is a Panning Shot but moving at a higher speed usually to catch something moving rapidly across the frame. When using a Whip Pan Shot the camera always has a main subject in the scene and then the background usually blurs as the camera moves very quickly. This gives the effect of how fast the subject is moving in the scene and as the background blurs whilst the camera is moving it shows its not important. As the main subject is moving as well as the camera it does not blur showing as that it has importance and is the main subject.

Tracking Shot

A Tracking Shot is a shot filmed by using a small track in which the camera is fitted on to gain easy movement and to maneuver quickly and steady. Using a Tracking Shot enables the camera to move side to side or forward or backwards and at any angle meaning the camera is able to be moved anywhere. A Tracking Shot is mostly used in a car scene where the camera is able to focus up close on the characters in the scene in the vehicles whilst they are moving at quite high speeds to give the sense of being there with the characters in the scene and this wouldn't have the same effect if they were to use a Panning Shot for this scene.

Panning Shot

Panning Shots are the movement of the camera in which they turn from one side to the other usually scanning a scene or following an object in the scene as it moves across the scene. In this short clip above the panning shot is slowly scanning the scenery surrounding the camera from right to left. Another type of pan shot is a Rolling Shot which is where the camera moves diagonally which gives a sense of the camera swaying which can be used when  creating the effect of an of someone unstable possibly drunk in a scene.

Sherlock Holmes Personal Review

The film Sherlock Holmes, I found was a very interesting and fun movie as of the story line and the setting. The things in the story line I enjoyed was that there are very mysterious characters such as Blackwood in which you want to find out how he manages to do all of the black magic such as making himself to appear to be dead. Also having the film set in the 18th century makes it an old time version of a modern police detective movie which makes it fun and different as of the time it is set in. In the movie there are many comical parts which are mainly given by Holmes and Watson and this makes it a bit of fun for everyone.
The film I believe appeals to most age groups except for young teenagers or children as I believe they will not understand the movie much and appreciate the movie so some kids find the film a bit boring as they can find it difficult to work out what the detectives are finding out.
The director Guy Ritchie has also directed films such as "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels", "Snatch", "RocknRolla" and many more great films. Most of Ritchie's films tend to be set in Britain and are usually action films which contain fight or shootout scenes.
I beileve the ending of Sherlock Holmes is clearly set out for a sequel as Sherlock recieves a message of a possible threat from Professor Moriarty and the films then finishes with the words from Sherlock "case re-open" which gives us an idea for a new beginning of a next film.
